BRIEF
In addition to wayfinding at St Catherine’s Sydney, BrandCulture were commissioned to activate two spaces within the new state-of-the-art Performing Arts and Aquatic Centre (PAAC). This included a donor recognition wall to celebrate those who made the PAC possible, as well as environmental graphics for the new Barry Rodgers Learn to Swim pool.
SOLUTION
Inspired by waves as an allusion to the activities that take place in the PAAC, we created a centrepiece that subtly undulates across the wall, complimentary to its new environment the polished brass plaques integrated into a timber wall reflect the light and help catch the eye of those passing by. Primary colour strips signify the tiers of significance for over 350 donors; The coming together of the plaques is reminiscent of a crowd gathering to see a performance.
Over at the Learn to Swim pool an array of bright gloss tiles adorns the wall that runs the length of the pool and beyond. The gleaming backdrop is inspired by the intersection of place, learning, and growth. An abstract colour explosion representative of the shallows at Coogee beach through the yellow sands to the greenery of the parklands behind and the burnt tiled roofs on the horizon under the dreamy blue sky.
