A fabrication workshop in which to find and discover.
University of Technology Sydney
Haymarket, Sydney NSW 2000
After transforming the University of Technology Sydney’s Fabrication Workshop into a modern, best-practice learning environment, Gardner Wetherill Associates gave BrandCulture the task of making these spaces reflect contemporary technology and culture through the use of smart, simple and effective environmental graphics.
We decided to make the floor area the hero of our wayfinding system, with playful engineering-inspired graphics guiding students safely to machinery. We maintained a clear line-of-sight between the studio, laser room, and main workshop floor, yet introduced a level of seclusion so occupants wouldn't be continually distracted. We're proud to say this project was awarded at the 2011 Society for Experiential Graphic Design Awards, and features in Archigraphia Redux (Graphis, 2016), a book showcasing inspiring environmental design projects around the world.
