BrandCulture recently took some time out from our busy end-of-year schedules to appreciate the work of creatives at the A&D Annual 2015 (UNSW Graduate Art and Design Exhibition) and the National Art School Graduate Exhibition. These exhibitions are an opportunity for students to launch their work in the industry, and for friends and family to see what’s been keeping their loved ones so busy (and stressed) all year.
The A&D Annual exhibition features an eclectic mix of art and design. With over 200 exhibitors involved, the showcase is one of the largest in Australia. Featuring work ranging from the conceptual to the marketable, the exhibition is a cross-section of fine art, graphics, packaging, installations and interiors. A standout piece from the A&D Annual2015 was by Ivy Yim, graduate and recent BrandCulture intern. Her work, ”The Perfect Guide” showcased what a great mind, good design (and some great training) can achieve.
The National Art School Graduate Exhibition, located at the very unique campus in Darlinghurst, features works of Students who have recently completed the Bachelor of Fine Arts. Pieces vary in style and medium, with the printmaking and painted works being highlights for the BrandCulture team. Kate Fennel – a BrandCulture freelance designer – demonstrated a keen eye and an ability to really understand the balance of light and darkness within her work, and incorporated this into a beautiful neon feature piece.
The quality and standard of the works, overall, in both exhibitions, was impressive. The ability to ?witness what makes the next generation of Artists and Designers tick is inspiring. And for us, it’s a ?chance to meet potential new team members for our growing studio.
