BrandCulture took part in #YokoOnoPeace Morning 2015, a global sunrise gathering held by the #MCAnow (Sydney). A celebration of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) exhibition Yoko Ono: One Woman Show, 1960–1971, and marking the 50th anniversary of Yoko Ono’s New York performance of Morning Piece (1964) to George Maciunas.
The event was organised in partnership with the MCA (Sydney), the Fondazione La Triennale di Milano (Milan), Garage Museum of Contemporary Art (Moscow), the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art (Istanbul), the J.Paul Getty Museum (Los Angeles), M+ (Hong Kong) and the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo (Tokyo).
Participants collaborated in Mandala art making – a beautiful temporary art created by using pebbles, twigs, paper, felt and naturally-occurring materials.
There was also a yoga session class in partnership with lululemon athletica, which marked the United Nations’ inaugural World’s Yoga Day. Held on the front steps of the MCA for all yoga-loving Sydney-siders, it was a once in a lifetime yoga experience with panoramic views of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, complimented by a live performance of a beautiful harpist.
We had a fantastic and positive morning and hope to see more creative experiences like this one, see you there!
